A Little About the Project
Shot over the summer of 2010 THE MODEL PROJECT is a collection of mixed portraits creating a time capsule of the Scottish modelling scene.  Simplicity was key to the creation of the images. To allow the models to become central and the full focus of the image everything was simplified and stripped back. 1 camera, 1 model, 1 white backdrop, 1 light and 1 reflector were used to create 1 static set up for these diverse images. Each was tailored to capture an essence of the models personalities by stripping back their make up and attire to reveal the personality under the beauty. 50 models in total sat for the portraits.

Teddies for Tragedies

Few things get written on the walls here. Few things need to be or deserve to be. This past week has been yet another busy one, between the normal meetings and deadlines, photo shoots and video directing, I had the pleasure, nae, I had the privilege of spending some time with a very special group of women. The Nuns of St Davids in Dalkeith take part in a knitting group who spend a few hours each week knitting for 'Teddies for Tragedies.' Led by Sister Betty, the group knit the aforementioned teddies as well as hats, jumpers, blankets and more for donation to the Children of Africa. The hats and blankets help keep premature baby's warm in the cold African nights while the teddies are given to children who have nothing. In some cases the teddies and the bags they come in are the only possessions that these kids will ever have.

Here's the sales bit... Teddies for Tragedies isn't a charity, its simply a pattern. The pattern allows anyone, anywhere to make one of these teddies and in turn make a difference. If you're able, keen, or just a little interested in any of this please do check out the website below for information. Its not a big operation, but the work the groups all over the country and in fact all over the world (with branches in Australia to Canada) does, really makes a difference to some families in desperate need of a little help or comfort.

Young or old I say 'Vive la Révolution!' knitting's the new Nintendo.
